Ethiopia is one of our favorite origins to source coffee from. Not only is it the birthplace of coffee, but it produces some of the most exciting, flavorful cups of coffee that can be experienced. And so, it is with great pleasure that we present our latest coffee offering from Ethiopia, Danch Meng. The name translates to "perfect approach" from Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia. This coffee is a naturally processed Yirgacheffe and dried on raised beds. The cup is dense with cocoa, raspberry, grapefruit, and lime. Enjoy!

We're pleased, once again, to offer a microlot coffee (or in this case nano lot; only 35kg) from Luis Rodrigo Romero. This is the 3rd year in a row that we've purchased coffee from Mr..Romero. This lot is extremely limited and therefore we chose to package it in 8 oz bags, and with some design help from Airtype Studio

Grown by Luis Rodrigo Romero at his farm, La Esmeralda in San Agustin, Huila, this coffee is 100% Caturra variety and is grown at an altitude of 1650 meters above sea level. The farm is a total area of 5 hectares, 4 of which are coffee with a total of 20,000 trees. Mr. Romero is married to Erminia Bravo with whom he has 2 sons, Edwin and Esneider. In addition to coffee, Luis and his son Edwin produce honey which they sell at local markets. The cup is syrupy sweet with notes of almond, grapefruit soda, marshmallow, sweet pepper, and peach.

In celebration of coffee farmers worldwide, it is our pleasure to announce that we will be roasting and serving coffee from Gabriel Garcia Romero and Finca Tres Tetas, one of the winners of the 2013 Mexico Cup of Excellence.

Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious award given to a fine quality coffee. The level of scrutiny that Cup of Excellence coffees undergo is unmatched anywhere in the coffee industry. All of the Cup of Excellence award winners are cupped at least 5 times (the 'Top 10' are cupped again) during the 3-week competition. During this selection process thousands of cups are evaluated, tasted and scored based on their exemplary characteristics. The prices that these winning coffees receive at auction have broken records and proven that there is a huge demand for these rare, farmer identified coffees. Click on the link for more information about the Cup of Excellence program

This is Krankies first time offering a Cup of Excellence winning coffee and we're super excited to share it with you. The cup itself is sweet and extremely well balanced with bursts of citrus, butterscotch, sweet caramel, and apple juice.

This coffee can be purchased here online and will be served at our cafe / roastery in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.
