We're stoked to host this FREE show this Saturday night! Winston's own Estrangers invite you to celebrate the release of their first ever vinyl record!! Their new album, 'Season of 1000 Colors' won't be officially released until June 11, but Krankies is hosting this FREE show to release the album on blue & orange 12" vinyl to Winston friends. They'll be joined by one of Winston's most exciting new upstarts, 90's garage pop troubadours Ezra Noble & Daisy Horse, alongside the legendary cult-classic Twelve Thousand Armies playing a rare solo set. Its free, what else are you gonna do on Saturday????? Come to this show, that's right. Check the fbook event for more info, cya Saturday nyte.
We're excited about Saturday May 4's opening reception for "Amalgamated Transmutations: Flight, Growth and Breaking Open." Artists Nicole Uzzell, Millicent Greason and Woodie Anderson present new work examining transformations of the physical and mental self under pressure. Together, these three artists use trusted skills and materials combined with unfamiliar techniques and new mediums to explore themes of distortion, mutation and renewal-leading to fresh, unexpected perspectives. The results are both beautifully authentic and unexpectedly raw.
The exhibit includes: paper, wire and ceramic sculptures by Nicole Uzzell, mixed media assemblages by Millicent Greason and large-scale screen printing on found fabrics by Woodie Anderson. Together they collaborate on three sculptural, life-size self-portraits built from paper casting and other found objects and materials as a focal point for the exhibit. Visitors may join the conversation on self-image and social expectation through a interactive installation that will evolve throughout the exhibits duration.
We will be showing the documentary GASLAND to inform folks about the dangers of Hydraulic Fracturing (fracking). This process has not been allowed in NORTH CAROLINA but there is a bill in the House that would change that (SB76). This bill endangers water and air quality in many parts of the state. There will be info about the bill and the people who want to Frack NC. JOIN US ON THURSDAY NIGHT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PROCESS AND HOW YOU CAN PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT!
