Brewing method
There are many different methods for brewing coffee. The first and most important step is to choose the brewing method that is right for you. Some popular methods are:
- Home Drip Machine (these vary widely)
- Press Pot or French Press
- Moka or Stovetop Espresso Maker
- Espresso Machine
- Chemex Pourover
- Vacuum Pot
- Clover

Good clean water
This is very important! City water is fine if it is filtered. Bottled spring water is the best. Remember bad water can ruin your coffee!
Temperature
Temperature is key! Ideal water temperature for brewing is 195 to 200 degrees.
Coffee
Use enough coffee! The general rule is 2 level tablespoons for every 8oz. cup. Studies show that most people like their coffee a bit stronger. We suggest 2 heaping tbsp for every 8oz. cup. You can skimp if you feel that it’s worth it. But is it?
Maintenance and Cleaning
Keeping your coffee equipment clean can greatly affect your brew. Over time coffee oils and lime can build up and produce bland, sour-tasting cups of joe. This is a bad thing!
And last but not least buy fresh and grind just before you brew for the best tasting cup of coffee.
